How We Make Our Church Grow
TEXT: (Eph 4:16)  “From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”
INTRODUCTION:
We hear much today about setting goals or preparing for growth.
There is nothing wrong with having before us an object of ambition or desire as long as it is Worthy of God’s blessing.
Goal oriented people accomplish more than those who have no destination in mind.
The same is true about the Church.
The difference in the Church goals are they must be: (1) Worthy and not (2) Worldly goals.
It is very easy to go either way in setting goals for Church growth.
Notice with me in: (Rev 2:4)  “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.”
We must set goals that are pleasing unto the Lord and I believe the following 3 such goals are please to Him and will insure Scriptural Church Growth.
I. WE MUST BE A LOVING CHURCH
(John 13:35)  “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
A. Love is the badge for real Church Growth!
B. We must be a Church that Loves:
1. TRUTH – God’s Word
(Psa 19:7-11)  “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. {8}The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. {9}The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. {10}More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. {11}Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.”
2. The LORD
(Deu 6:5)  “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”
3. The BRETHREN
(Rom 12:10)  “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;”
II. WE MUST BE A LOYAL CHURCH
A. We must be LOYAL in ATTITUDE
(Prov 23:7)  “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.”
1. Void of self-righteousness
2. Void of indifference
3. Void of constant censure
B. We must be LOYAL in ATTENDANCE
(Heb 10:25)  “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
C. We must be LOYAL in Allotment (Stewardship)
(2 Cor 9:7)  “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
III. WE MUST BE A LABORING CHURCH
A. LABORING in Missions
(Mat 28:18-20)  “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. {19}Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: {20}Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
B. LABORING in Soul Winning
(Psa 126:5-6)  “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. {6}He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”
C. LABORING in Restoring the Wayward
(Gal 6:1-2)  “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. {2}Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”
CONCLUSION:
These goals are the center of all Church growth. We like the Church at Ephesus . .”Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” (Rev 2:4) can be guilty of losing sight of real church growth. Let us today each one take a personal look at our LOVE, LOYALTY AND LABOR in making our Church grow for the honor and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. What do we see? If we have lost our way, then let us come now and let the Lord give us our sight back.  Will you come now? If not SAVED, then please accept Jesus as your personal savior today.
